Why Collectrio forces one of each verb in a trio

By Bernie · Published 2026-10-14 · Updated 2026-10-14

A Collectrio ranking is not three independent likes. You assign three different verbs — one Sleeve, one Swap, and one Store on Cards, or one Train, one Trade, and one Transfer on GO. That forced shape is how the board learns relative priority without becoming a price list.

Forced one-of-each verb trioAtopBmidClowA vs B · A vs C · B vs C → Elo update
One of each live verb per trio — three pairwise results, not a vague like.

One ranking, three pairwise results

Per /methodology and /faq, you see three names from one product and one format lens, then assign each a different verb. That submission is one ranking with three pairwise results: top beats middle and bottom; middle beats bottom and loses to top; bottom loses both. Collectrio stores the three IDs, the product, the format lens, and a timestamp — not a login.

Those pairs update an Elo rating. Expected score uses the usual 400-point logistic. K is 58 on /methodology, so a surprising result moves the board more than a blowout everyone already believed. Seeds start order; submitted trios are what Collectrio measures. Number literacy: /guides/what-is-the-collectrio-number.

Why the verbs must differ

If every name could be Sleeve or Train, trios become flattery and the board cannot learn what people release. The low verb — Store on Cards, Transfer on GO — is storage and priority loss among these peers today, not an insult forever. Cleanup philosophy: /guides/box-cleanup-philosophy. Verb deep-dives: /guides/sleeve-swap-store and /guides/train-trade-transfer.

The middle verb — Swap or Trade — is the fairness hinge. It beats the bottom and loses to the top. Without it, packages lose a shared language for “peer move.” Without the top verb, keep and invest never separate from cleanup. Forced one-of-each keeps all three jobs in every contribution.

  • Top verb = keep / invest priority among these three.
  • Middle verb = fair move among these three.
  • Bottom verb = release / deprioritize among these three.

Cards: Sleeve, Swap, Store without cosplay

Sleeve is not a penny sleeve — it is the keep verb on Cards. Disambiguation: /guides/sleeve-not-penny-sleeve. Swap is not a marketplace scrape. Store is not trash talk. Rank on Binder for display permanence, Playable for list usefulness, Value for Swap liquidity — /guides/how-lenses-work.

Dishonest patterns: Sleeve everything chase-shaped to cosplay the board; Store a playable staple on Playable because you dislike the art; Swap two names you would never actually move. Honest patterns: pick three names that compete for the same slot tonight, force a bottom, submit once to unlock — /how-rankings-work.

GO: Train, Trade, Transfer without Keep buttons

Community threads often say keep-or-trade. On Collectrio GO, Train covers invest-and-keep priority among the three names; there is no separate Keep button. Map: /guides/pokemon-go-keep-or-trade. Trade is fair move language. Transfer is cleanup to the professor — still not an insult.

Untradeable names still belong in Train decisions on Dex or Raids (since Trade isn't possible). Do not invent a Trade fairness story the game blocks. Special slots and registration dust remain game constraints — /guides/go-special-trade-tax — while your trio only teaches relative crowd strength on /go.

Unlock is the first honest trio

Submit one trio — three ranked choices on that board — to unlock the rest of the board for your session. A Cards unlock does not open GO, and a GO unlock does not open Cards. /how-rankings-work and product copy are explicit: Collectrio does not invent live ranking counts. Your contribution is the point of the gate.

After unlock, tiers and trend become readable structure — /guides/reading-the-board, /guides/tier-cliffs-not-letter-grades. Calculators package the same Elo with modifiers; they do not replace the need for honest verbs upstream — /guides/how-calculator-works.

Public band, cliffs, and trend still depend on honesty

The public number clamps to 1000–9999. Tiers cliff when gaps hit the published threshold on /methodology. Trend is seven-day movement of that public number on the same lens. None of those features salvage a session of flattery votes. If you refuse bottoms, Fringe never earns its meaning and Elite becomes cosplay.

Conviction, liquidity, nostalgia, and utility frameworks help you interpret the aggregate after you voted honestly — /guides/ranking-frameworks. Trend humility: /guides/trend-without-noise. Two boards never mix: /guides/two-boards-never-mix.

Teaching someone else

Start with one product and one lens. Hand them three peers that actually compete. Require one of each verb out loud before submit. Show the unlock. Flip one sibling lens later in the week so they feel reorderings — /guides/lens-conflicts. Only then open a tiny calculator package.

Starters: /guides/starter-cards-binder and /guides/starter-go-dex. Product definition: /guides/what-is-collectrio. Hub: /guides. When dollars enter the chat, point at /guides/collectrio-vs-price-guides and keep Collectrio on relative verbs.

  • Forced verbs = the learning unit.
  • One trio unlocks one product board.
  • Honesty beats flattery for Elo (K = 58 on /methodology).

Checklist before you submit

Are all three names on the same product? Same lens question? Different verbs assigned? Is the bottom honest rather than theatrical? If yes, submit. If you are stuck because everything “feels like Sleeve / Train,” you are flattering the set — pick a harder peer or admit a Store / Transfer. Paths: /methodology, /faq, /cards, /go.

After submit: what should change

Your session board unlocks. The public Elo moves when persistence is configured; locally you still practiced the comparison the product is built on. Skim Elite and the first cliff — /guides/tier-cliffs-not-letter-grades. Note Off board rows instead of inventing cash bridges — /guides/off-board-means-switch-lens.

If a real package appears later, load /cards/calculator or /go/calculator on the same lens you ranked. Keep modifiers honest. Do not “fix” a bad trio with condition or lucky fiction. Building loop: /guides/building-a-trade-package. When dollars enter chat, /guides/collectrio-vs-price-guides.

Repeat weekly with new peers. Forced verbs stay the unit even after you know the board cold. Flattery still teaches the wrong lesson; honest Store and Transfer still teach the right one.

  • Unlock → read cliffs → package only if needed.
  • Same lens for trio and calculator.
  • Weekly honesty beats one theatrical session.

FAQ

Short answers on forced trio verbs.

Why force one of each verb?

Each trio yields three pairwise results instead of a vague like. Contrast is how Elo learns chase from depth — /methodology.

Which verbs appear on Cards?

Sleeve, Swap, and Store only. The board does not offer Keep, Trade, or Cut as product labels on Cards.

Which verbs appear on GO?

Train, Trade, and Transfer. Same forced one-of-each shape as Cards, different catalog and Elo pool.

What is unlock?

Unlock is the first honest trio for that product on this device/session — details on /how-rankings-work.
