Why Collectrio is not a price list
· Published 2026-09-21 · Updated 2026-09-21
Marketplaces own dollars. Collectrio owns comparisons. If you need a sale price, use a marketplace. If you need relative keep-or-move strength on a lens, rank a trio and read the board.
Different job, different number
A price list answers “what might someone pay in currency for this SKU today?” Collectrio answers “relative to these peers on this lens, would the crowd Sleeve or Train this, Swap or Trade it, or Store or Transfer it?” Those questions are adjacent in collector life and still not convertible without a second model Collectrio refuses to fake.
The public number is Elo from trios, clamped to a 1000–9999 public band, tiered by gap cliffs, with a seven-day trend column. Recipe: /methodology. How unlock works: /how-rankings-work. It is not TCGPlayer, eBay, StockX, PriceCharting, or a Niantic quote.
Abstract proxies — letter tiles, set/number or dex facts — reinforce the point: this is a comparison tool, not a scan-linked price guide with official art.
Why comparisons are useful anyway
Collectors decide keep-or-move packages constantly without selling into a marketplace. Binder vs Value conflicts, Dex vs Trade bait conflicts, and uneven chase-vs-depth packages need a shared comparison language. Calculators at /cards/calculator and /go/calculator package that language into give/get sides.
Crowdsourced comparisons capture conviction and liquidity narratives that can lag or lead asking prices. Frameworks: /guides/ranking-frameworks. Modern chase ladders on Cards: /guides/cards-chase-ladder. GO friction that dollars ignore: /guides/go-special-trade-tax.
When two collectors disagree, a shared Elo board plus a shareable calculator link beats unanchored shouting — without pretending either side has a cash oracle.
What you will not find here
No scraped listings. No live “market heat” invented to look busy. No official card scans or GO sprites. No user binder photo uploads as proof. No cross-board dollar bridges between Cards and GO — /guides/two-boards-never-mix.
Editorial pages do not invent AdSense publisher IDs; ads are optional environment configuration elsewhere on the site, not part of ranking math.
Unlock still asks for a real trio so browsing is contribution-shaped. That is a product choice, not a paywall for prices that do not exist here.
How to talk about Collectrio numbers with partners
Say “on Value this package is close on Collectrio” not “this is worth $X according to Collectrio.” Share calculator links with modifiers visible — /guides/how-calculator-works. If someone demands dollars, open a marketplace tab and keep Collectrio for structure.
Condition and lucky modifiers adjust comparison strength, not fiat. NM vs LP is not a currency pair. Lucky is not a coupon code for cash.
Negotiation hygiene for packages: /guides/building-a-trade-package. Uneven deals: /guides/calculator-uneven-packages.
- Use Collectrio for relative package shape and keep priority.
- Use marketplaces when you need currency quotes.
- Do not launder nostalgia or FOMO into fake dollars.
Lenses are not price floors
Binder Elite is not a floor price. Trade bait Elite is not a vendor bid. Playable and Raids track utility, which can diverge wildly from what people pay in cash. Reading boards: /guides/reading-the-board. Picking lenses: /guides/how-lenses-work. Conflicts: /guides/lens-conflicts.
Trend is not a candle chart for prints — /guides/trend-without-noise. Trading Collectrio trend as if it were a securities feed misunderstands Elo from trios.
Verbs are not appraisals
Sleeve / Swap / Store and Train / Trade / Transfer describe priority in a comparison. Store and Transfer are cleanup, not “worthless.” /guides/sleeve-swap-store, /guides/train-trade-transfer, /guides/box-cleanup-philosophy.
Starters that stay comparison-native: /guides/starter-cards-binder, /guides/starter-go-dex. First GO trade without dollar theater: /guides/first-go-trade.
Where to go next
Methodology for the recipe. Guides hub at /guides for practical loops. About and terms for fan-project boundaries: /about, /terms. Rank on / or /go when you are ready to contribute a trio.
Collectrio remains unofficial and unaffiliated with The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, Creatures, or GAME FREAK. Comparisons stay community-owned. Dollars stay where dollars live.
- Comparisons ≠ dollars — by design.
- Paths: /methodology, /cards/rankings, /go/rankings, /guides.
- Calculators package Elo; they do not mint prices.
Failure modes when people force prices anyway
Taking a Collectrio Value Elite and multiplying by a made-up dollar factor creates fake precision. Partners then argue about the factor instead of the package shape. Kill that habit early: share /cards/calculator or /go/calculator and negotiate lines, not invented FX rates.
Using trend as a day-trading signal for sealed product or singles is another failure mode. Trend measures trio Elo delta for seven days — /guides/trend-without-noise — not warehouse restocks. If your goal is cash timing, use marketplaces and accept Collectrio as a separate tool for keep-or-move structure.
Quoting Collectrio in insurance claims, tax stories, or vendor disputes overclaims the product. Editorial and legal pages stay clear that this is an unofficial fan comparison tool. Keep /about and /terms in your pocket when someone tries to deputize the board as an appraisal service.
Healthy dual-tracking looks like: marketplace tab for ask/bid, Collectrio tab for Binder versus Value or Dex versus Trade bait, calculator tab for package geometry. Three tabs, three jobs, no mashup. Starters: /guides/starter-cards-binder, /guides/starter-go-dex.
- No DIY dollar multipliers on Elo.
- No insurance or tax appraisal claims.
- Dual-track marketplaces and Collectrio without merging.
FAQ
Short answers on the anti-price-list stance.
Is the Collectrio number a dollar price?

Can I convert the number to cash here?
Collectrio does not publish a conversion. Use a marketplace when you need currency; Collectrio owns comparisons only.
Are lenses price floors?
No. Lenses are different comparable sets. Value lens is still relative Sleeve / Swap strength, not dollars.
Are verbs appraisals?
No. Sleeve / Swap / Store and Train / Trade / Transfer are priority labels in a trio, not marketplace appraisals.
