Lucky, shiny, and Needs XL: when GO modifiers change a package
On /go/calculator, Plain, Lucky, and Needs XL are comparison-strength adjustments on a give/get line — not cash, not marketplace comps, and not a way to treat stardust as money. Shiny framing still belongs in Train / Trade / Transfer decisions; modifiers only tune how that line reads inside a shared package.
Modifiers adjust strength, not price
Collectrio’s GO calculator packages the same trio-driven Elo your board already shows. Quantities, then modifiers, change how strong a line counts on each side. Plain is the default. Lucky and Needs XL move comparison strength when lucky power-up economics or XL candy pressure actually apply. They are not a second market and they do not mint a dollar quote — /guides/why-not-a-price-list.
Live UI verbs stay Train, Trade, and Transfer. Modifiers are Plain, Lucky, and Needs XL only. Search threads that say keep-or-trade still map onto the trio — /guides/pokemon-go-keep-or-trade — but the product never shows Keep or Cut as on-page labels.
Short calculator answers also sit on /faq. Term definitions for Lucky and Needs XL live on /glossary. Baseline surface walkthrough: /guides/how-calculator-works.
- Plain — default comparison strength on a GO line.
- Lucky — lucky status economics for power-ups, marked only when true.
- Needs XL — XL candy pressure that changes Train value for the receiver.
Does Lucky change the deal?
Yes — when the offer is actually lucky, or when you are modeling a known lucky honestly. Lucky reflects cheaper future power-ups and often raises perceived Train strength for the receiver. On /go/calculator, marking Lucky lifts that line’s package weight relative to Plain. Leaving it Plain when the mon is lucky understates the offer; marking Lucky when it is not overstates it.
Lucky does not invent a cash premium. It does not replace Trade bait ranks, and it does not erase registration dust or special-trade friction. Overlay those taxes after the board gap looks close — /guides/go-special-trade-tax. First careful night: /guides/first-go-trade.
Marking Lucky early to force fairness is cheating the shared contract. Share links keep modifiers visible. Partners who open your URL should see the same Lucky flags you claimed in chat. If you hope for a lucky roll later, say hope out loud — do not bake hope into the modifier.
- Lucky when lucky (or modeling a known lucky).
- Plain when the copy is not lucky.
- Never use Lucky to close a gap you refuse to admit as a favor.
What Needs XL means on Collectrio
Needs XL flags XL candy pressure that changes Train value for the receiver. On Collectrio it is a calculator modifier, not a glory badge and not a Trade bait ranking. If the receiver still needs XL candy before the mon is a real Train piece, mark Needs XL so the package reflects that friction.
Needs XL is not a dollar discount and not a stardust-as-money column. Dust and candy remain game budgets you spend in GO; Collectrio only adjusts comparison strength on the give/get sides. Definitions: /glossary. How modifiers sit next to quantities: /guides/how-calculator-works.
Ignoring Needs XL when the receiver cannot invest yet makes a package look fairer than the Train story allows. Marking Needs XL on a fully XL-ready offer understates strength. Honesty beats theater because the share URL is the contract.
- Needs XL → Train friction for the receiver, visible on the package line.
- Not a Trade bait flex and not a cash markdown.
- Match the flag to the receiver’s real XL wall.
Plain is the honest default
Plain means no lucky premium and no XL-pressure flag on that line. Most depth fillers, registered Trade bait, and ordinary mirrors belong on Plain unless truth differs. Start Plain, then flip Lucky or Needs XL only when the facts require it.
Uneven chase-versus-depth packages still need deliberate side counts after modifiers are honest — /guides/calculator-uneven-packages. Raising Lucky on depth to close a chase gap is the same class of cheat as upgrading Cards condition on bulk. Building loop: /guides/building-a-trade-package.
Shiny: stay in the package or Transfer?
Shiny is not a calculator modifier. Sparkle changes how you frame Train / Trade / Transfer and which lens owns the night. Dex answers living-dex and trophy holes. Trade bait answers whether partners still want that shiny in a package. Raids answers invest priority among attackers — a shiny can be Dex Train and Raids Transfer relative to meta pieces. Map the search habit: /guides/pokemon-go-keep-or-trade. Verb depth: /guides/train-trade-transfer.
Keep the shiny in the package when Trade bait (or the fairness lens you chose) still treats it as receive-side strength worth loading on /go/calculator — especially when a partner needs the form, costume, or Dex hole. Set Lucky / Needs XL on that shiny line only when lucky status or XL walls apply. Special-trade and registration friction can still make a “fair” board package a bad night — /guides/go-special-trade-tax.
Prefer Transfer when the copy loses honest cleanup trios and a Trade bait peek says nobody wants it as depth. Transfer is storage cleanup, not a slur — /guides/box-cleanup-philosophy. Before you Transfer a shiny duplicate, peek Trade bait once. Before you Transfer a shiny legendary with weak invest story, peek Raids and whether a partner still wants depth. Short verb answers: /faq.
- Package — Trade bait (or fairness lens) still wants the shiny as a line.
- Transfer — loses cleanup comparisons after a liquidity peek.
- Modifiers tune the line; they do not decide Dex hole vs junk sparkle.
Worked loop on /go/calculator
1) Write one sentence: fairness package, Dex hole, or invest handoff. 2) Unlock /go on the matching lens. 3) Open /go/calculator. 4) Load give and get. 5) Start every GO line on Plain. 6) Flip Lucky only when lucky. 7) Flip Needs XL only when XL candy gates Train value for the receiver. 8) Read the gap. 9) Add depth, swap a line, or declare a favor — do not launder with fake modifiers. 10) Share the URL.
If one side is a shiny legendary against registered depth, read /guides/calculator-uneven-packages after modifiers are honest. If registration or a special slot is the scarce resource, read /guides/go-special-trade-tax before you treat calculator closeness as permission to spend the night.
What modifiers will not save you from
Wrong lens. Modifiers do not fix Dex trophy pride masquerading as Trade bait fairness — /guides/lens-conflicts. Cross-board barter. Never balance a GO shiny against a Cards chase — /guides/two-boards-never-mix.
Dust theater. Stardust is a game budget, not money; calculator closeness does not refund registration tax. Thin boards. If the names you care about feel Off board on the fairness lens, rank honest trios or change lines before you trust the package math — /guides/reading-the-board.
Abstract proxies only on Collectrio: names and dex facts, never official sprites, and never paste image URLs into the package story. Identify forms in text before you mark Lucky or Needs XL on the wrong line.
