How the Cards calculator packages a Swap

What this calculator is — and is not

The Cards calculator at /cards/calculator is a packaging surface for relative crowd scores on the Cards board. It stacks the same public numbers people move when they assign Sleeve, Swap, and Store in forced trios. Those numbers live in a relative band on one format lens — Binder, Playable, or Value — and they answer package closeness, not cash. Collectrio is not a shop, not a marketplace, and not a scraped sold-comp sheet. When a partner asks what a line is “worth” in money, open a marketplace tab. Keep this page for geometry: give side, get side, quantities, condition modifiers, and a shareable URL that encodes the package you drafted.

What the calculator is not: a second market, a grading lab, a shipping estimator, or a bridge that invents fairness across products. Cards and GO never share catalogs, Elo pools, rankings, or calculators. If a chat tries to balance cardboard against a shiny legendary inside one fairness sentence, that is personal barter outside Collectrio methodology. Project framing lives on /about; the scoring recipe lives on /methodology. The locked Cards verbs stay Sleeve, Swap, and Store — there is no fourth ranking verb on this product.

Building Give and Get, step by step

Start with one decision sentence: what Swap are you testing tonight? Pick the lens that matches that sentence before you touch the picker. Value is the usual fairness lens for Swap liquidity. Binder is for chase and binder-copy questions. Playable is for list usefulness. Wrong lens, wrong package — modifiers will not repair a philosophical lens error.

Rank a trio on Cards when you want the picker unlocked on this device. Spectating a shared link still works: open a partner’s URL and inspect both sides even if you have not voted yet. When the picker is open, search by name, set, or number, then tap Give or Get. Give is what you offer; Get is what you hope to receive. Quantity steppers let you add multiples of liquid Core names instead of wishcasting with one Fringe line. Clear a side when the draft goes sideways. Put something on both sides before you trust the verdict line — empty geometry is not a deal.

Read the gap after both sides have lines. Close enough means crowd strength is similar under your modifiers; it does not mean both parties feel identical, nostalgia is settled, or shipping is fair. Say favors out loud when a gap remains. Rebuild with Core liquidity when depth is mostly Fringe cosplay. Walk through uneven chase-versus-depth patterns in the related guides below when the shape of the package is the hard part, not the search box.

What NM, LP, and MP mean here

On Cards lines the calculator offers three condition modifiers: NM, LP, and MP. They adjust how much relative board strength that line contributes inside the package. NM is the default — near-mint treatment for the comparison. LP lowers the line’s contribution relative to NM. MP lowers it further than LP. That is the whole behavior: condition scales the same board number the rankings already show; it does not invent a new market or a cash quote.

Be harshest on chase. A lightly played chase name changes package geometry more than the same label on binder filler. Do not quietly upgrade depth condition to close a gap — partners who open the share link see the modifiers you claimed. Collectrio uses abstract proxies and cannot inspect whitening or edge wear; you and your partner still verify physical state off-site. Vintage and graded-adjacent copies deserve stricter honesty than a fresh modern SIR still in a sleeve. Condition is a truth flag in the shared contract, not a slider for forcing “close enough.”

Reading an uneven package — and when to walk away

Uneven means asymmetric composition: one high-board name on Give against several mid-board names on Get, or the reverse. The calculator answers whether the pile closes the relative gap on this lens. It does not answer emotion, grading risk, or whether you will regret moving a binder favorite. If Get still lags after honest modifiers, add depth, swap a line, or accept a favor. Do not flip lenses mid-package to inflate pride on one side — that is laundering, not literacy.

Walk away when most of the depth is Off board on the active lens. Walk away when the partner demands a cash bridge to paper over Off board names. Walk away when Cards and GO are being mashed into one fairness claim. Walk away when condition flags are being used as fiction. Closing the tab is a valid outcome; Collectrio will not shame a declined Swap. Rebuild later with peers that belong on the lens, or wait until you have a cleaner trio of comparisons behind the names you care about.

Why Off board names cannot be bridged with cash

Off board means the name is not in this lens’s comparable set. It can still have a profile page and catalog identity; it is simply outside the ranked peer group for the question you picked. Bulk energy on Binder, pure art trophies on Playable when they are not list pieces, and similar mismatches show up on purpose. Off board is a navigation hint: switch lens or replace the line.

Cash is not a Collectrio lever. Inventing money to “fix” an Off board row pretends this calculator is a price guide. It is not. Modifiers adjust comparison strength inside an on-board package; they do not place an Off board name onto the lens. If half your depth is Off board, rebuild. Read /guides/off-board-means-switch-lens and /guides/reading-the-board when the table feels empty for the names you love — emptiness is often lens discipline, not a scrape failure.

How the share link encodes a package

The share URL keeps format context plus give and get lists. Each line can carry a quantity and a non-default condition flag. Default NM stays off the string so links stay short; LP and MP appear when you set them. Opening the link rebuilds the same package shape on /cards/calculator so a partner sees the modifiers you proposed. Copy link always works; on devices that support the Web Share API, Share hands the same URL to the system sheet.

The link is a proposed contract for relative geometry, not a invoice. Trend can move underlying board numbers after you share, so agree a window before you treat closeness as final. Reopen the calculator before you finalize if a chase line has been noisy this week. Cards calculators never share state with GO — a GO package URL belongs on /go/calculator, not here.

Worked examples with placeholder names

Example A — mirror Swap. You put Card A on Give and Card B on Get, both NM, both on Value. If the verdict reads close enough, you are looking at similar crowd strength, not identical feelings. Prefer Card B for the binder story? Say that out loud; do not relabel Card A as MP to force the math.

Example B — chase versus depth. You offer Card A alone on Give. Partner offers Card B, Card C, and another Core line on Get. Set honest condition on Card A first. If Get still lags, add another liquid name or declare a favor. If several Get lines are Off board on Value, switch lens or replace them — do not invent cash to glue the pile together.

Example C — condition honesty. Card A is LP on Give; Card B and Card C are NM on Get. LP lowers Card A’s contribution relative to an NM read of the same board row. If that gap is the whole deal, either accept the favor, improve the Get side with real depth, or walk away. Do not flip Card B to MP in the link while claiming NM in chat.

Short FAQ

Is the calculator a price list? No. It packages relative crowd scores from Sleeve / Swap / Store trios. Are NM / LP / MP grades from a slab company? No. They are package modifiers that scale board contribution — NM default, LP lower, MP lower still. Do I need an account? No. Rank a trio on this device to unlock the picker; shared links remain readable without voting. Can I mix GO names here? No. Cross-product balancing is barter outside methodology. Where do I study the board before packaging? Open /cards/rankings, then return here. Where is the recipe? /methodology. Where are the long guides? Use Related guides below.
